Default 1996 BMW 318IS INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REPLACE WITH 96 M3 CLUSTER. Possible?

I've been looking and I have had no success. My current instrument cluster doesn't work anymore so i have found a replacement one from a 1996 bmw m3 coupe. Was wondering if i would have to modify anything to get it to work. I have a 1996 BMW 318is (coupe). I am pretty sure it will work but im just double checking.

If you were able to look at the back side of your 318i instrument cluster, you might be able to sketch the layout of the wiring harness and the number of connectors to be dealt with. If the connectors have the right pin count and long enough wires to reach each connector receptacle, your proposed panel switch just might work. What is the difference in the clusters besides the tachometer? How many cylinders does your 318i have?
