Default brakes/tire problems...?

Im 16, first off, and i was driving my dads Acura TL. I was being an idiot and peeling out and stuff for my friends...I was going down this country street, going about 80 mph and i see a stop sign come out of nowhere, so i hit the brakes hard, i dont skid or anything, but i actually keep going and blow through the stop light, so now the tires smell like their burning (most likely burnt rubber smell? correct?), but thats not what im worried about. the brakes on the car seem to be less responsive, enough to notice anyway, is this alright? did i do any serious damage to the car? i know i was being stupid, and im not going to do it again...so please dont lecture me on that...i just want to make sure that i didnt blow out the brakes or anything...if that is possible.

First of all I'm 16 too so trust me I've been there several times with my truck. Second, this one day that you hit the brakes hard isn't the main reason the brakes are not as responsive as they should be, however, it did contribute a little bit.

The reason your brakes are not as responsive as they should be is because your brake pads have worn down and now need to be replaced. I would tell your dad that you notices his brake pads have worn down and that they need to be replaced. When you replace the brake pads you also need to have the rotors machined or replaced if necessary.

Hope this helps!!

Depends on what type of vehicle your driving. In most cases you'll have abs in Acura so chances are you only had the brake react the way they are suppose too. If you have concern tell you dad about it so he can have a look at it. Or second option wait till they are in the hospital bed beside you to tell them. Your choice...

well acura's are made with anti lock brakes, and by hitting them hard, you probably blew out a gasket on the main cylinder, going to cost you about $500 to a $1000 to replace everything.
