Default what is causing my brake taillights not to work?

i have a 1983 gmc pickup. and when i press the brake the taillights dont turn on. i checked the fuses and all of them are working. what is causing this problem? could it be the brake switch?

check the bulbs, or the fuse may even be out. go look in your owners manual and look where your tailight fuse is. and if you have no idea what i am talking about go to your mechanic.

IF it's not the stop light switch - bulbs - fuses - then the turn signal harness is bad !

check bulbs and fuses, pull bulb, check with voltage meter. you can also check brake switch with meter. both should be easy to do
