I just purchased my second s2000. It is a 2001 with 65,000 miles. The one discrepancy I have is how weak the brakes are. As mechanically inclined as I am, I have always left brake jobs up to the "professionals". This time however, I think I'm just going to tackle it myself. I need to know how to tell which components are in need of replacing. It takes a more than usual amount of pressure on the pedal to get the car stopping how it should. How do I tell if I need to replace just pads or rotors. Or should I consider a caliper rebuild kit too? I do enjoy road rallying through the twisties, and If I do need to replace the rotors, should I consider drilled and slotted replacements? Basically, how do I tell what parts are worn past their usability?
Well, unless the pads were almost non existent, why else would I have weak breaking? |
