Default Ceramic brake pads

I will soon have to get new brake pads for my 2009 Dodge Journey. I am wondering if it would be a good idea to put on ceramic brake pads. I know they will cost a little more but they are supposed to have some kind of advantages. The one thing I have heard is that they squeal sometimes. Are they worth putting on even if they do squeal?

Hello guys!

Ceramic brake pads just refer to the composition of the pad. Ceramic pads should be no more expensive than any other pad, what they are trying to sell you is a Premium part. Ask for the mid-grade part and the price will be more to your liking.

I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the only ceramic parts in brakes are the discs, and these are fitted only to highly-specialised performance cars such as Ferrari and Porsche.
The cost of these as an option on a new car is several thousands of $.
My feeling is that someone is trying to rip you off - but do check this out with an official Ford dealer before you accuse them!! As I say, I could be wrong....If it IS an attempted scam, it sounds to me like a serious fraud.
I hope this helps.....
