1998 buick park ave. Fuel indicator goes out at the same time car...

...suddenly dies while driving? car has restarted easily each time but now the check engine light is on. It seems to happen more when I am driving downhill or apply the brake suddenly. Do I need a new fuel pump? Could this be a tank of bad gas?

Either the wiring to the fuel cell is loose/bad,or the fuel cell pump is going bad.Check the connections at the plug at the tank if connected ok then figure fuel cell.The check engine has recorded a fault the dealership can read on their computer reader that may solve this action.....George

If it's triggering the check engine light, you could check the codes and that should tell you.
