Question about digital gas gauge in 1986 chrysler Lebaron?

This is a car I'm restoring for fun, it is an 86 Chrysler Lebaron 4 cyl. turbo engine convertible. The gas gauge shows three bars left and the car is out of gas? Is this possibly a sensor that needs replaced?

Yup, the sending unit sensor is the problem.
