low and my engine light is on? I have a 1997 mitz spider and recently had and oil change Now MY oil Pressure is low and my engine light is on! i put more oil in and my pressure is still low do I have to worry about it, could this possiable hurt my car? I don't have a lot of money could this cost a lot of money, car still runs fine and doesn't make any weird noises I don't smelll any burning let me know, thanks

If it's a RED dash light, don't drive the car until the engine oil pressure can be measured with a shop oil pressure gauge connected directly to the engine. Any yellow check engine light allows you to drive to a garage. Your car's owner's manual tells you this. See if any engine oil is dripping under the car by putting a big piece of card board there over night. The oil filter might be double gasketed or loose or the drain plug threads might be stripped. Don't take a chance with damage to your engine, and keep that oil full.

Check the level of oil on your dipstick. If it is OK then check the grade of oil used and compare it to the recommended grade. If all of this is OK then I would take it to a mechanic because if there is low pressure you may destroy your engine.
