Default Problems with 1993 Ford Taurus on damp days?

I have a 1993 Ford Taurus, 3.0 v6. On a normal day the car will start after cranking only 2 or 3 seconds first thing in the morning. But if there is dampness in the air, I have to crank it a dozen times or more for 10 - 15 seconds before it will start. It acts like it is flooded, but I have not given it any gas. It spits and sputters and finally starts.

This only happens after sitting all night. Once it is started I never have any more issues with it all day, even if it is raining or snowing, it will start with one crank.

First thing I'd check would be the distributor cap. Heck, on second thought, just replace the cap and rotor and go from there. They're inexpensive and easy to replace.

Sounds like something in the ignition system is allowing the wetness to penetrate, interrupting the electricals. It's most likely the distributor, take the cap off when it's acting up and see if it's wet on the underside.
