Why is my check engine light on in my 2000 Hyundai Elantra?

take it and have the computer scanned,there's no way to guess at that ,only a scanner will tell why the light is on,then it will give you a trouble code to work with,so it can be repaired,good luck with it.

My check engine light has come on and I have no idea why. I am scared to drive the car for cause of more damage. I already replaced the transmission in the car and I am scared that I am having more problems with it. Why does that light even come on?
