Default Why is the top speed of the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG limited to 155 mph?

I cannot even afford any car like this and I am not interested in going these speeds. Please do not criticize me because I have an interest in cars.

Default 155

I think the reason has to do with tires.

Outrunning the speed rating of your tires is a particularly dumb form of suicide.

I'd have to track down my AMG data, but I believe the speed governor settings in Germany are much more generous. Mercedes clamps down on the cars they ship here, and equip them to match the limits.

The car is otherwise capable of speeds in excess of 155, probably nearer 190.
