1992 mitsubishi galant?

i have a 1992 mitsubishi galant. it runs but when in gear and you stop it stalls. you can keep it from stalling if you switch it into park as soon as you stop. any ideas what could be wrong with it. im trying to sell it but would like to know whats wrong with it before i do. also it takes a few minutes to get it started up. the starter works i can hear it when i turn the key and engine cranks over. could a low charged battery be the problem?
